How you get paid: grants, Stripe Connect & holds

When someone gives to your organization on Xerish, the money does not pass from the giver to you directly. It is received and held by Xerish Storehouse — a 501(c)(3) donor-advised fund (DAF) sponsor — and then granted out to you automatically once it clears a short hold. You never file a withdrawal request.

What it's for

This is how every gift reaches your bank account. Knowing the path — gift, hold, grant, transfer — tells you exactly where each dollar is and when to expect it.

How it works

  • A giver advises a gift. Xerish Storehouse receives and holds it on your behalf. Givers pay a 0% fee on giving.
  • The gift clears a hold (24–48 hours — see the limitations below).
  • Xerish Storehouse grants it to you. Approved grants are sent to your connected Stripe account as a Stripe Connect transfer — automatically, typically within the hour after the hold clears. You take no action.
  • Stripe pays your bank. Once a transfer lands in your Stripe account, Stripe pays it out to your linked bank on your Stripe payout schedule.

You connect Stripe once (about 5 minutes, free for your organization) and the rest runs on its own.

Governing limitations

  • Push, not pull. There is no "request a payout" button. Grants are dispatched automatically by Xerish Storehouse; the org never initiates the transfer. The old withdrawal-request path has been retired.
  • Per-grant cap. Each grant under the current $5,000 cap is auto-approved with no action needed. A single grant over the cap routes to Storehouse board review before it is dispatched.
  • Combined transfers. Grants that clear together are combined into one Stripe transfer, so one deposit may cover several gifts.
  • Stripe must be connected. If your bank is not connected through Stripe, grants cannot be transferred. Connect it from your Financial Center.
  • Failed transfers (for example, a closed bank account) appear in your Grant Transfer History with the reason; the funds stay safe at the Storehouse until resolved.

Good to know

  • The card statement descriptor your givers see reads XERISH STOREHOUSE.
  • Year-end tax statements to your givers are issued by Xerish Storehouse — you do not issue receipts yourself.
  • Track every transfer in Financial Center → Grant Transfer History.
