Grant Cancellation Policy (v0.2 DRAFT)
Structural first-pass draft describing how an Advisor may cancel a Grant Recommendation before disbursement. For counsel review only.
Effective Date: DRAFT v0.2 — 2026-05-27 — NOT YET EFFECTIVEFirst-pass structural draft (v0.2) by Claude. Supersedes v0.1 placeholder. NOT effective. Markers: [CONFIRM], [TERM], [COUNSEL TO DRAFT].
The Sponsor provides a short cancellation window after a Grant Recommendation is recorded so that an Advisor may correct an error or change a recommendation before funds are batched for disbursement. This is a UX convenience operating within the Sponsor’s discretion and does NOT modify the irrevocability of the underlying charitable Contribution.
The applicable cancellation window depends on the type of Grant Recommendation. The window begins when the Recommendation is recorded and ends at the corresponding pending_until timestamp.
- [CONFIRM] 24 hours for a Grant Recommendation tied to a specific post or campaign (a "post-tagged" Recommendation).
- [CONFIRM] 48 hours for a Grant Recommendation NOT tied to a specific post or campaign (a "direct" Recommendation).
Within the window, the Advisor may cancel a Grant Recommendation through:
- Self-service in the Xerish app — the Treasury surface lists pending Grant Recommendations with a cancel control.
- Email support at support@xerish.com with the transaction reference.
- The Sponsor will confirm cancellation by in-app notification and/or email within [CONFIRM] one business day.
Upon cancellation:
- The recommended amount is returned to the Advisor’s DAF Account balance, not to the Advisor’s bank account, card, or any external destination.
- The cancellation is logged in the Sponsor’s ledger.
- The original Contribution that funded the DAF Account balance is unaffected; the Advisor’s tax acknowledgment for that Contribution is not reversed or reissued.
After the applicable window closes, a Grant Recommendation is irrevocable from the Advisor’s perspective. The Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, halt a queued disbursement before transfer for compliance, fraud, or legal reasons; such Sponsor-initiated halts are not Advisor cancellations and the funds are returned to the DAF Account balance pending resolution.
[COUNSEL TO DRAFT] — handling of suspected fraud, identity theft, demonstrable Advisor error after the window, and any required exception process under applicable consumer-protection law. At v1 baseline assumption: no post-window exceptions except Sponsor-initiated compliance halts under §5.
