Launchpad: Getting Started

Connecting Stripe to receive payouts

OrganizationsChurchesLast reviewed May 26, 2026

What this step is for

Xerish uses Stripe Connect to disburse Gifts to your Organization. You complete a one-time onboarding with Stripe — they verify your identity, collect bank details, and handle ongoing compliance.

Why it matters

  • No Stripe = no payouts. Gifts can be received into your Xerish balance, but you cannot withdraw them until Stripe Connect is fully verified.
  • Tax reporting. Stripe issues the IRS forms (1099-K where applicable) so Xerish doesn''t have to.
  • Speed. Once Stripe is verified, payouts run on the standard schedule — usually 2 business days after a Gift settles.

How to complete it

  1. Tap Connect with Stripe. You''ll be redirected to Stripe''s onboarding flow.
  2. Enter your Organization legal name and EIN (must match what you entered in the Tax and Legal step).
  3. Provide a bank account for payouts. Routing number + account number. Stripe verifies the account with two small test deposits over 1-2 business days.
  4. Upload any documents Stripe requests — usually your IRS Determination Letter and, for officers, a government-issued ID.
  5. Return to Xerish when Stripe says "Onboarding complete."

What to expect after

  • Your payout settings page in Xerish shows "Stripe: Verified."
  • Future Gifts settle on the standard 24-hour or 48-hour hold (depending on whether they''re tagged to a specific post or direct to your Organization).
  • Withdrawals run automatically on the schedule you choose (daily, weekly, or manual).

Fees and the Xerish promise

Xerish charges 0% on Gifts moving from a Giver''s wallet to your Organization (per CONSTITUTION §V). Stripe''s processing fees apply only on the wallet top-up side — Xerish adds 2.5% on card top-ups and 1.5% on ACH top-ups, additive to Stripe''s own fees. The Organization sees 100% of what arrives in the Giver''s wallet.

Common mistakes

  • Mismatched legal name between Xerish and Stripe. They must match exactly. Stripe will reject otherwise.
  • Personal bank account. Use the Organization''s account, not a board member''s personal account. This is both a Stripe requirement and a sound governance practice.
  • Ignoring Stripe email requests. Stripe sometimes asks for follow-up documents weeks later. If you ignore those, payouts pause until you respond.
