Launchpad: Getting Started

Setting up your Organization basics: name, mission, logo, banner

OrganizationsChurchesLast reviewed May 26, 2026

What this step is for

This is the surface every Giver sees before they decide whether to follow you or Give. It''s your storefront. Treat it like one.

Why it matters

  • First impression is permanent. A Giver who scrolls past your card once may not come back. The name, mission line, and banner do the work in under two seconds.
  • Search visibility. Your name and mission feed the Discover index. Vague mission lines find no one.

How to complete it

Name. Use your legal Organization name as registered with the IRS (for U.S. 501(c)(3) entities) or with your state of incorporation. No emojis. No "DBA" decoration. If your common name differs from your legal name, the legal name wins.

Mission line. One sentence. 12-18 words. Active verb. Specific population + specific outcome.

  • Strong: "We feed unhoused families in Cincinnati through a network of 14 church kitchens."
  • Weak: "Helping people in need."

Logo. Square. Minimum 512x512. PNG with transparent background preferred. This appears next to every post you make, every Gift receipt, and every notification a Giver receives.

Banner. 16:9 ratio, minimum 1920x1080. JPG or PNG. Avoid heavy text overlays — your name renders separately on top of the banner.

What to expect after

Your card appears in Discover within 5 minutes of saving. You can edit any of these fields later under Org Settings, but the banner re-crops on save, so re-uploading is sometimes simpler than editing.

Common mistakes

  • Stock photos for the banner. Givers can tell. Use a real photo from your work if you have one.
  • All-caps name. It looks like shouting in feed cards.
  • Mission line stuffed with adjectives. "Passionate, dedicated, faithful, hardworking" tells a Giver nothing they can act on.
