Prayer: moderating prayer requests
The Prayer page is where your church oversees the prayer requests your family shares inside the Xerish app, keeping the Family Space feed safe and encouraging.
What it's for
Shepherding the prayer feed — celebrating answered prayers, taking down anything that doesn't belong, and stopping spam or abuse without silencing genuine requests.
How it works
Requests come from your family members and land in the feed in three groups:
- Open requests — awaiting an outcome.
- Answered — celebrated prayers.
- Manage bans — givers currently blocked from submitting.
For each open request you can:
- Mark answered — moves it to the Answered list as testimony.
- Remove — takes it off the feed.
- Ban — blocks that giver from submitting further requests. You can Unban from the Manage bans card at any time.
Some requests are submitted anonymously and stay anonymous to everyone — including you. You can't ban the submitter of an anonymous request.
Governing limitations
- Web moderation actions (mark answered, remove, ban, unban) succeed only for the church account owner. Non-owners see a friendly notice and can moderate from the app instead. Broadening this to other portal users is a planned follow-up.
- Anonymous requests never reveal their submitter, so the Ban action isn't available on them.
- Moderation is scoped to your own church's feed.
Good to know
- Moderate gently — answered prayers are testimony for the whole family. Reserve Remove and Ban for spam or abuse, not disagreement.
- A ban only stops future submissions; it doesn't delete the giver's earlier requests.
