Family Center & family-only content

The Family Center is your church's private membership inside Xerish. Family membership unlocks family-only posts, prayer requests, events and Funds for the people who belong to your church.

What it's for

Gathering your congregation into a private space — most church features (prayer, family posts, calendar) flow to these members — and deciding which content is for the family versus the wider public.

How it works

Build the family list (Family page):

  • Add a member by their Xerish user id (UUID) or @username, then confirm and add. Email lookup isn't available — givers' emails are never exposed to the portal.
  • Share the invite link so people add themselves; they sign in to Xerish, accept, and appear in your list.
  • Assign a role label — Pastor, Coordinator or Member (labels for now). Remove a member to revoke their family access.

Control the audience on each surface:

  • Posts carry a family-only flag — a family post shows a Family chip and is visible only to joined members.
  • Events and Bulletin announcements each have an Audience setting: Family (joined members only) or Public (anyone viewing your church).
  • Prayer requests live in the Family Space and are moderated on the Prayer page.

Governing limitations

  • Family-only visibility depends on church family membership plus each item's audience setting — adding someone to the family is what unlocks family content for them.
  • The portal never exposes member emails. You reach members through Xerish push, not email exports.
  • Admins see members for their own church only; family-member PII is not exposed to other members beyond opt-in.
  • Removing a member immediately revokes access to family-only posts, prayer and Funds.

Good to know

  • Build your family list first — it's the foundation the other church features depend on.
  • Family membership is distinct from following your org; a follower is not automatically a family member.
  • Role labels (Pastor / Coordinator / Member) are organizational today and don't yet change permissions.
