Inbox, Notifications & Messages

Two surfaces handle incoming activity, and they do different jobs:

• Inbox is your notifications hub — a single feed of everything across your account that may need attention. It is information you receive.
• Messages is two-way conversation — back-and-forth threads with partner organizations and with the Xerish team.

What it's for

• Inbox: never miss a new gift, follower, partnership request, Fund invite, F.I.G.S. re-vet reminder, or a campaign closing soon — all in one place instead of scattered across sub-pages.
• Messages: coordinate 1:1 with a partner organization, or reach Xerish Support directly.

How it works

Inbox

The Inbox gathers six signal types — new gifts, new followers, partnership requests, Fund invites, F.I.G.S. re-vet reminders, and campaigns closing soon — sorted newest-first. Use the folder rail to filter: All, Unread, Gifts, Followers, Partnerships, Reminders. Click a message to read it; each one links straight to the page where you act on it, so the Inbox is a launchpad, not a store. A Xerish suggests banner flags one high-leverage move. It auto-refreshes about once a minute, and you can Mark all read.

Read/unread state is tracked per browser, so clearing items on one device may not carry to another.

Messages

A text-message-style view with two thread types in one list:

• Organizations — conversations with other orgs/churches. Open a thread to read the full history and reply from the box at the bottom.
• Xerish Support — use Message Xerish to open a new conversation with the Xerish team. Each support thread shows a status (open, in progress, resolved, closed). Resolved or closed conversations are read-only; start a new message to reopen the topic.

Governing limitations

• The Inbox is a feed of notifications, not a message store — you cannot reply to an Inbox item; you follow its link to act.
• Messaging is organization-to-organization and organization-to-Xerish only. There are no Giver-to-Giver messages and no public Giver profiles — organization threads never expose a Giver's identity, and Xerish Support threads are private between your org and the Xerish team.
• For one-to-many updates to your followers, use Email Broadcasts instead of Messages.

Good to know

• Skim the Inbox daily and clear the Unread folder first.
• A partnership request shows up in both the Inbox (Partnerships folder) and on the Partnerships page, where you accept or decline it.
